Privacy Policy
How RepairMyCar collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data, and your rights under UK GDPR.
Last updated: June 2026 · Version 1.1 · Version 1.0
The short version
- We are a booking platform that connects drivers with independent garages. We use your data to run that service, take bookings and payments, keep you safe from fraud, support you, and (with your permission) market to you.
- To arrange a job, we share the details a garage needs to do the work. Once we do, the garage is an independent controller of your data and responsible for its own use of it.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- You have rights over your data, including to access, correct, delete and object, and you can complain to the ICO.

1.Who we are
RepairMyCar Ltd (trading as RepairMyCar) is the controller responsible for your personal data. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 14872031, registered office 12 Buckingham Gate, London SW1E 6LB. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number ZB672104.
We operate the website and app at www.repairmycar.io (the "Platform"), an online service that helps drivers find, book and pay for MOTs, servicing and repairs with independent garages and mechanics. When we use your data we are subject to the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You can reach us about privacy at privacy@repairmycar.io.
2.What data we collect
Depending on how you use the Platform, we may collect:
- Identity and contact data: name, email address, phone number, postal address.
- Vehicle and job data: vehicle registration number, vehicle details, and details of the work you need or have had done.
- Location data: your postcode or location, to show nearby garages.
- Booking and transaction data: the bookings you make, prices, and payment records. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store your full card number.
- Account and security data: your login details and security settings.
- Communications: messages you send through the Platform, and our correspondence with you.
- Reviews and feedback you submit.
- Marketing preferences: your choices about receiving communications.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, device and browser type, operating system, and how you interact with the Platform.
If you are a garage, we also collect business details, proof of address, VAT number, insurance and qualification documents, bank details for payouts, and your pricing/quoting data.
We do not ask for or knowingly collect special category data. Please do not send it to us unless it is genuinely necessary for your request.
3.Vehicle and location data
When you enter a vehicle registration number, we may retrieve vehicle and MOT-related information to help provide the service. This may come from official UK government sources (including services operated by the DVLA and DVSA via GOV.UK) and from licensed third-party vehicle-data providers. When you enter a postcode or location, we use mapping and address data to identify nearby garages.
4.Children
The Platform is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you are 16 or under, you must have permission from a parent or guardian before giving us personal information.
5.How and why we use your data
We rely on: performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests; compliance with a legal obligation; and your consent (which you can withdraw at any time). We use your data to provide the Platform, take bookings, process payments and refunds, manage your account and support, send service messages, prevent fraud and abuse, improve the Platform, market our services (with consent), and comply with legal obligations.
To arrange a job, we send the garage you choose the details it needs, for example your name, contact details, vehicle details and the work requested. If you book a mobile mechanic, we pass the service address only to the mechanic you have chosen.
7.Marketing and your preferences
With your permission, we may send you updates by email, SMS, phone or post about our products and services, exclusive offers, and reminders when your MOT or service is due. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in emails, replying STOP to texts, changing your preferences in your account settings, or emailing us. If you opt out of marketing, you will still receive service messages.
9.AI-assisted chat and calls
We may use automated tools (including chatbots and voice bots) and AI-assisted features to help handle enquiries, manage bookings, and improve efficiency and quality. This may involve processing your chat messages and call audio or recordings (including transcripts) and generating summaries or routing information. A person may be available, if you would like to speak to someone, please ask. Please do not include sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your request.
11.International transfers
Some of our service providers may be based outside the UK or EEA. Where we transfer your data internationally, we do so only where there is an adequacy decision, where appropriate safeguards are in place (such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or approved standard contractual clauses), or where an exception applies.
12.Security and your responsibilities
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Please help us protect your data: use a strong password, keep it confidential, enable two-factor authentication where offered, and keep your details up to date. Please do not email us confidential information such as full card details.
13.How long we keep data
We keep your personal data while your account is active and for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, for example to respond to questions, complaints or claims, to show we have treated you fairly, and to meet legal, regulatory, tax and accounting requirements.
14.Your data protection rights
Under Data Protection Law you have the right to access your data; have inaccurate data rectified; have your data erased in certain circumstances; restrict or object to our processing (including direct marketing); data portability; and not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
To exercise any right, contact us at privacy@repairmycar.io. We aim to respond within one month.
15.Links to other sites
The Platform may link to third-party websites, including garages. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
16.Changes to this policy
We review this policy regularly and may update it from time to time. The current version will always be published here, and we will tell you about significant changes where appropriate.
